John Wagner, Artist and Producer
John Wagner began experimenting with recording techniques by recording his dance band in high school. Upon graduating, he was introduced to Norman Petty of Buddy Holly fame, who ran a recording studio in John’s hometown of Clovis, NM. While recording with Norman, John’s recording/music ambitions were formed.
During his college years at the University of New Mexico, he spent every spare moment learning and refining his skills while earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. The next decade of his life would be spent capturing on tape and records the musical inspirations of hundreds of talented artists. Discovering, producing and recording songs and artists became the focus of his career and through time he developed an extensive publishing catalog.
Over the past 30 years, John’s recording studio has built a reputation for quality. He has even designed and built high-tech recording equipment for use in his state-of-the-art recording facility.
Having produced records for, and signed artists to, major companies all over the world, John’s achievements include production of two Grammy-nominated albums: Merle Travis’ Travis Pickin’ and Joe Maphis’ Flat Pickin’ Spectacular. In addition to these accomplishments, he has created award-winning original music and jingle campaigns for top advertising agencies nationwide.
Of his many musical achievements, John’s favorite project is his New Mexico the Sound Of Enchantment CD’s. As a lifelong New Mexican, it only seems natural that John would create a work of music that embodies the traditional, contemporary, romantic and exciting elements of the state he loves.
His dream is to bring New Mexico the Sound Of Enchantment to the world.
